Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works are proposing improvements to approximately 1 mile of WIS 32 (South 1st Street) in the City of Milwaukee. The purpose of this project is to provide long-term improvements to the pavement, operation, and safety of the roadway. Proposed improvements include:
- Replace entire pavement structure from West Lapham Boulevard to Florida Street
- Replace curb ramps to meet ADA standards
- Update traffic signals
- Evaluate dedicated bus or bicycle facilities
Schedule
Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2030.
Public Involvement
WisDOT held a public involvement meeting on September 30, 2025 for the public to learn more about the proposed improvements, get questions answered, and provide input to the project team. The meeting was the first of many opportunities to engage with the project. Materials presented at the meeting are available below:
