WIS 73 (Middleton Street to Commerce Court), Columbus to Randolph - Dodge County
Project overview
This project is planned to replace 13.7 miles of deteriorated pavement on WIS 73 from Middleton Street in Columbus to Commerce Court in Randolph. The propose improvements include the following:
- Mill and overlay 3.5” of new asphaltic material between Middleton Street and Recreation Road
- Replace all the existing pavement structure with 30” of new gravel and 5” of new asphaltic material from Recreation Road to US 151
- Mill 4” and pave 5” of new asphaltic material from US 151 to Commerce Court
- Raising the roadway by 1” from US 151 to Commerce Court
- Repair the concrete pavement at the bridge over US 151
- Extend the sidewalk to Rotary Park in Columbus
- Widen the paved shoulders from Middleton Street to Lange Road in Columbus
- Install centerline and edge line rumble strips along the length of the project
- Replace all guardrail along WIS 73
- Replace the existing damaged cross culverts and end walls
- Repairing 2 bridges (one over US 151 and one over the Union Pacific Railroad)
- Replacing the box culvert just south of County CC

Traffic impacts/detours
WIS 73 is planned to be closed to through traffic during construction and constructed in two stages.
- Stage one: Between Middleton Street in Columbus and US 151. The detour for this stages utilizes WIS 16 and US 151.
- Stage two: Between US 151 and Commerce Court in Randolph. The detour for this stage utilizes US 151, WIS 16, WIS 146, and WIS 33.
