Overview
This project will make improvements to approximately 4.5 miles of the I-43 Rock Freeway, between Bowers Road and WIS 20, in Walworth County.
Proposed Improvements
The project includes replacing the pavement within the project limits (Bowers Road to WIS 20). Additional project elements include:
- Structure improvements to bridges and retaining walls along the corridor
- Replace guardrail
- Culvert pipe repair/replacement and cleaning
- Replace existing signing and pavement marking
- Drainage improvements
Public Involvement
WisDOT hosted a public involvement meeting on November 21, 2024 at the East Troy Village Hall to discuss the proposed improvements. Materials and exhibits shared at the meeting are posted below to help give more opportunity for public feedback.
As the project continues to move forward, your input is welcomed and appreciated throughout the design process.
Traffic Impacts
Traffic staging alternatives are still being discussed. Options include staging with inside/outside construction, staging with a crossover where traffic will be shifted to the opposite direction, or a full-time closure and detour to complete the work.
The two staging alternatives will likely require long-term single lane closures and ramp closures. It is anticipated that most of the work will be conducted during daytime hours.
Schedule
Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin as early as 2027.
