I-41 Resurfacing and Bridge Improvements - Washington County

Overview

The purpose of this proposed project is to address the deteriorating pavement and decreased ride quality on I-41, and associated ramps from County Q (County Line Road) to US 45 in Washington County. The project also includes replacing the bridge over Cedar Creek and various improvements to multiple additional bridge structures.

Proposed Project Improvements:

  • Mill & overlay the pavement on I-41 and the Germantown Park & Ride
  • Longitudinal pavement joint repair
  • Concrete base patching
  • Bridge replacement of the I-41 bridge over the branch of Cedar Creek (B-66-040)
  • Maintenance on the I-41 bridges over the Wisconsin Southern Railroad tracks (B-66-001 & B-66-002)
  • Maintenance on the County Q (County Line Road) bridge over I-41 (B-66-030)
  • Maintenance on the Maple Road bridge over I-41 (B-66-031)
  • Maintenance on the WIS 167 (Lannon Road) bridges over I-41 (B-66-032 & B-66-033)
  • Maintenance on the Mequon Road bridge over I-41 (B-66-034)
  • Maintenance on the Freistadt Road bridge over I-41 (B-66-035)
  • Maintenance on US 45 southbound entrance ramp bridge over I-41 (B-66-037)
  • Maintenance on US 45 southbound entrance ramp bridge over branch of Cedar Creek (B-66-042)
  • Upgrade deficient guardrail to current standards
  • Reapplication of High Friction Surface Treatment
  • Drainage improvements

Traffic Impacts

Traffic control during construction has not yet been determined. Efforts will be made to minimize traffic impacts, including congestion, delays, and queuing. Impacts to transit may involve temporarily closing or relocating bus stops. Accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists will be provided as needed.

Public Involvement

Outreach is ongoing and project information is being shared in a newsletter. As materials and exhibits become available, they will be posted below to help give opportunity for public feedback. As the project continues to move forward, your input is welcomed and appreciated throughout the design process.

Schedule

Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2029.
