
Overview
This proposed project will make various improvements along WIS 33, from County Y in the village of Newburg to County W in the village of Saukville, in Ozaukee County. Proposed improvements include:
- Milling and overlay 2.5 inches asphaltic pavement between County Y to County O (Mill Street)
- Milling and overlay 4 inches of asphaltic pavement between County O (Mill Street) to approximately 500 feet northeast of County W.
- New pavement marking and signing
- Installation of centerline and shoulder rumble strips
- Guardrail repair/replacement
- Culvert pipe maintenance and repair
- The bridge over the Milwaukee River in Saukville will receive additional rip rap for scour protection.
- The bridge over the Milwaukee River overflow (east of the river) will receive a deck sealer treatment, and the girders will be painted.
- Replace non-ADA compliant curb ramps and adjust the alignment of sidewalk crossings.
- The railroad crossing surface and signals east of the WIS 33 and Progress Drive/Tower Street intersection will be repaired.
- Replace signals at multiple intersections:
- WIS 33 and Progress Drive/Tower Street
- WIS 33 and Ulao Street
- WIS 33 and County W
Traffic Impacts
WIS 33 is planned to be detoured during the project. The proposed detour will utilize County Y, County NN, WIS 60 and I-43. During construction, the village of Saukville will remain open to local traffic.
Real Estate Impacts
Minor real estate impacts are anticipated for curb ramp updates and for the culvert improvements.
Schedule
Construction is anticipated to take place in 2029 but may happen as early as 2028 if funds are available.
