WIS 181 (N 76th Street) Pavement Replacement Project

Overview

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing improvements to approximately 1.2 miles of WIS 181 (N 76th Street) in Milwaukee County. The purpose of this project is to provide long-term improvements to the pavement, operation, and safety of the roadway. The project is proposing to:

  • Replace entire pavement structure of WIS 181 from WIS 175 (W Appleton Avenue) to W Grantosa Drive.
  • Remove and replace all curb and gutter
  • Complete utility updates
  • Replace signals in the corridor
  • Add bike and pedestrian accommodation updates
  • Complete additional safety and operational improvements

Schedule

Construction is anticipated to start in Spring of 2032, but could start as early as Spring of 2031, pending available funding.

Join the project team for a public involvement meeting to learn more about the project, get your questions answered, and provide input:

  • Tuseday, March 3, 2026
  • 4 – 6 p.m. (the meeting will be held in an open house format; stop by anytime)
  • Laborers Union AFL-CIO Building (6310 W Appleton Ave, Milwaukee, WI)
