project location map

Project Overview

This project will make various improvements to approximately 8.5 miles of WIS 144, between Skyline Drive in the city of West Bend to the Washington/Sheboygan County line.

Proposed Improvements

  • Mill and replace two (2) inches of existing pavement (resurfacing)
  • Remove existing guardrail and replace with guardrail meeting current standards in most locations. Repair existing guardrail in Boltonville adjacent to the stream.
  • Plant living snow fence (shrubs) in select areas.
  • Replace curb ramps to meet ADA standards
  • Remove cattle pass near the county line and replace it with a culvert pipe
  • At the intersection of WIS 144 and County H, the existing pavement will remain. A roundabout will be constructed at this location in the future. The gap will be re-striped to maintain visibility of pavement markings for safety reasons.

Proposed Traffic Impacts

This project will be split into two segments. During each stage, WIS 144 will be closed to through traffic will a posted detour. Local traffic will be guided and protected with a flagging operation.
