Polymer overlays planned for 10 structures in Barron, Bayfield, Douglas, Rusk and Sawyer counties

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public input on a proposed bridge rehabilitation project involving 10 structures in five counties.
The public is invited to visit the project website, review the materials and submit comments by Dec. 31, 2024, by:

The extend the service lives of the bridges, WisDOT is proposing to:
- Make concrete surface repairs to bridge decks.
- Clean bridge decks.
- Place a thin polymer overlay over the bridge decks.
Work is planned on structures in the following counties:

Barron County:
- WIS 25 over Upper Pine Creek northwest of Dallas
- WIS 25 over Lower Pine Creek north of Ridgeland
- WIS 48 over a drainageway west of Rice Lake

Bayfield County:
- US 2 over North Fish Creek east of Ino

Douglas County:
- WIS 13 over Miller Creek northwest of Poplar

Rusk County:
- WIS 27 over Thornapple River north of Ladysmith
- WIS 40 over Alder Creek north of Bruce
- WIS 40 over Becky Creek north of Bruce

Sawyer County
- WIS 40 over Couderay River south of the village of Radisson
- WIS 48 over Weirgor Creek in Exeland
During construction, all highways and bridges will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter daytime lane closures controlled by flagging where work is occurring.
Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.
Motorists are reminded that using handheld cell phones in Wisconsin work zones is illegal. Alerts and updates provided via these sites are not intended for use while driving. When driving, your focus should always be on driving.
