Release date: September 26, 2025

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public input on a proposed resurfacing project on WIS 25 from County D in the town of Tainter to WIS 70 in Wheeler, all in Dunn County.

The public is invited to go to the project website, review a presentation and submit comments by October 7, 2025, by:

The existing pavement on WIS 25 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is proposing:

  • Removing 4 inches of existing pavement and paving 4 inches of new asphalt pavement
  • Widening paved shoulders to five feet and installing shoulder rumble strips from County D to 250 feet south of Hill Road
  • Three feet of the existing shoulders currently is paved.
  • Placing gravel along the shoulders
  • Replacing guardrail
  • Cleaning ditches
  • Cleaning or replacing culverts and replacing culvert end walls
  • Replacing pavement markings

Construction will be completed in two phases. During culvert replacement, WIS 25 will be closed except to local traffic, and through traffic will be detoured using US 12, WIS 79 and WIS 170. During remaining work, motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging and shoulder closures.

Construction currently is scheduled for 2030, but work could be advanced to 2028 if funding becomes available.
