WisDOT seeking public input on bridge rehabilitation project

Proposed work includes overlaying deck on structure over branch of Kinnickinnic River, resurfacing roadway

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public comment on a proposed improvement project rehabilitating the bridge that carries WIS 65 over a branch of the Kinnickinnic River at the edge of River Falls in St. Croix County.

The public is encouraged to visit the project website, review project details and use the comment form to share their input. Comments are being accepted through Aug. 15 by:

Built in 1967, the bridge needs maintenance. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing the following improvements on the:

  • Bridge
    • Overlaying the bridge deck with concrete
    • Rehabilitating the concrete abutments
    • Replacing a bridge wing
    • Replacing concrete approach slabs
  • Roadway
    • Milling two inches of existing asphalt pavement from roadway approaches on both sides of bridge
    • Paving two inches of new asphalt
    • Replacing guardrail
    • Restoring landscape

During construction, WIS 65 will be closed, and traffic will be detoured via WIS 35 and I-94.

Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.
