This segment of pavement is showing signs of deterioration. To address that and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:
- Removing 2 inches of the existing pavement and placing 2 inches of new asphalt pavement for the full travel lane and paved shoulder width and all right-turn lanes and bypass lanes
- Resurfacing the wayside rest area by pulverizing and relaying 4 inches of the existing pavement and base and placing 2 inches of new asphalt through the entire wayside
- Completing culvert work, including cleaning, lining, repairing or replacing culverts and cleaning ditches to restore roadway drainage
- Installing centerline rumble strips for the total length of the project
- Removing and replacing all guardrail at the McKenzie Creek Bridge
During construction, WIS 64 will remain open to traffic, but motorists can expect to encounter single-lane and shoulder closures.
Construction currently is scheduled for 2029.
