Location
The 8.5-mile project on WIS 64 begins at WIS 73 in the towns of Ford and Roosevelt and ends at Coyote Drive in the towns of Grover and Maplehurst in Taylor County.
Overview
The pavement in this segment is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing the following:
- On WIS 64:
- Removing 3.5 to 4.5 inches of the existing asphalt pavement
- Pulverizing, relaying and shaping 8 inches of remaining asphalt pavement and underlying material
- Stabilizing and strengthening 6 inches of roadway base by adding an emulsified asphalt binder
- Paving 4 inches of hot-mix asphalt (HMA) over the roadway
- Replacing or repairing culverts
- Cleaning roadside ditches
- Replacing substandard guardrail at the McKenzie Creek Bridge
- At the wayside between WIS 73 North and 8th Avenue:
- Pulverizing the pavement at the wayside area, relaying the material and overlaying the pavement with HMA
- Repaving paths
- Replacing culverts
- Replacing parking blocks
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, WIS 64 will be closed to through traffic but will remain accessible to local traffic using flagging.
- Through traffic will be detoured via WIS 73, WIS 29 and WIS 13.
