Construction planned from WIS 27 South in Ojibwa to County W in Winter

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a public involvement meeting to share information and obtain public input about a pavement improvement project on WIS 70 from WIS 27 South in the town of Ojibwa east to County W in the village of Winter, all in Sawyer County.
- When: 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 10
- A short presentation is planned at 5 p.m.
- Where: Winter Village Hall, 6593 Hazel St.
The pavement and structures on this segment of WIS 70 are showing signs of deterioration. To address these, WisDOT is proposing:
- Milling 4 inches of the existing pavement
- Pulverizing another 8 inches of pavement and mixing it with an emulsion
- Paving 4.5 inches of new pavement
- Replacing existing culvert pipes
- Replacing curb
During construction, WIS 70 will be closed to through traffic, but access will be maintained to homes and businesses in the project limits.
Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.
Information about the project can be found on its website, including a comment form. Comments on the project are being accepted through June 26.
