I-39 (US 51 to County V interchange), DeForest - Dane County
Project overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing improvements along I-39. The 5.2-mile project starts at US 51 and ends south of the County V interchange.
Proposed improvements include:
- Mill and remove existing 3.5 inches of asphaltic pavement
- Treat deteriorated pavement with concrete repair as needed
- Place 3.5 inches of new asphaltic pavement over concrete
- Repair/replace guardrail to bring up to current standards
- Bridge rehabilitation

- 2029 - Construction anticipated
Traffic impacts/detours
I-39 will remain open to traffic with nighttime lane closures. Individual ramps may be closed and detoured nightly for ramp work and I-39 outer lane work.
