I-39 (US 51 to Marquette County line), Portage - Columbia County
Project overview
The purpose and need of this project is to address the deteriorating concrete pavement on I-39 and improve the longevity of the roadway. The proposed project will patch the deteriorating concrete pavement on I-39 between US 51 and Marquette County line. Additional project work includes:
- Patching the deteriorating concrete pavement on the US 51 interchange
- Milling and overlaying distressed shoulder areas on I-39 northbound and the US 51 interchange
- Milling and overlaying the shoulders on I-39 southbound
- New pavement markings at patch locations
- Existing guardrail will be evaluated and updated to current standards as needed within the project limits
Schedule
- 2029 - Construction anticipated
Traffic impacts/detours
I-39 will remain open to traffic with single lane closures. There will be limited ramp closures at the US 51 interchange.
