Location
The project on WIS 70 begins at the Minnesota state line and continues to WIS 35 South in Siren, all in Burnett County.
Overview
The roadway and drainage infrastructure along the corridor have experienced ongoing wear and deterioration due to age, traffic loading and environmental conditions. To address this, the Wisconsin Department is proposing:
- Lining or replacing culverts
- Repairing culvert end walls
- Adding riprap at various locations
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2030.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, WIS 70 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging.
Related Projects
Two additional projects are planned in this area - 8040-00-70 and 8040-00-71- following completion of this project.
- 8040-00-00 (70): WIS 70, South Johnson Street to WIS 35 South
- This project includes replacing pavement in rural portions of the project limits and resurfacing WIS 70 in the village of Siren.
- 8040-00-01 (71): WIS 70: St. Croix River to east of South Johnson Street
- This project resurfaces the highway.
