Location
The WIS 70 project runs from County B West east of Spooner in the Washburn County towns of Birchwood and Stone Lake to WIS 27 North northeast of Stone Lake in the Sawyer County town of Sand Lake.
Overview
The pavement is showing signs of deterioration. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:
- Removing 2 inches of the existing pavement and placing 2 inches of new asphaltic pavement
- Repairing or replacing culverts
- Upgrading sidewalk curb ramps
- Adjusting and/or replacing guardrail sections
- Placing new pavement markings
Schedule - Updated
Construction currently is scheduled for 2031.
- Construction could be advanced to 2028 if funding becomes available.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, WIS 70 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging. Access to businesses and residences in the work zone will be maintained throughout the project.
