WIS 13 (Little Whittlesey Creek Bridge), town of Barksdale - Bayfield County

Location

The WIS 13 bridge over Little Whittlesey Creek is south of the Bayfield County city of Washburn in the town of Barksdale.

Overview

The existing triple pipe structure that carries the creek under WIS 13 has reached the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:

  • Replace the culvert pipes with a concrete slab span bridge.
  • Restore the stream bed.
  • Install new guardrail.
    • The installation of guardrail will result in relocating the driveway of the US Fish and Wildlife Service facility slightly to the north. The existing driveway will remain open until the new one is built, and the property will be restored to its original condition after construction.

Traffic Impacts

WIS 13 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will use a temporary bypass and structure to get around the work zone.

Schedule

  • Construction currently is scheduled for: 2026.
    • Work could be advanced to 2025 if funding becomes available.
