WIS 121, US 53 North to County FF South

Location

WIS 121, US 53 North in Pigeon Falls in Trempealeau County to County FF South in the Jackson County town of Northfield.

Overview

The existing pavement overlay is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:

• Removing a portion of the existing pavement surface and overlaying it with 1.5 inches of asphalt
• Replacing the box culvert carrying May Coulee Creek under WIS 121, along with various other culverts
• Upgrading guardrail
• Upgrading existing sidewalk curb ramps in Pigeon Falls
• Installing centerline rumble strips
• Placing new pavement markings

Real Estate

Permanent right of way and temporary limited easements will be necessary for reconstructing curb ramps and sidewalk and replacing culverts.

• Real estate acquisition is expected to begin in 2025.

Schedule - Updated

Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.

Traffic Impacts

During construction:

• WIS 121 will be closed for the replacement of the structure at May Coulee Creek, with traffic detoured via US 53, US 10 and I-94.
• Motorists will encounter daytime lane closures controlled by flagging for remaining work.
