Location
The proposed project includes bridges on and over US 53 in Eau Claire, Chippewa, Barron, Washburn and Douglas counties.
Overview
To protect the structures from water, moisture and chemicals penetrating them, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:
- Remove sand and debris with compressed air to prep bridge deck
- Apply a protective surface treatment to bridge deck and pier column surfaces
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.
Traffic Impacts
During work, US 53 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter:
- Short-term lane closures during off-peak travel times.
