Location
The project is on US 2 west of Ashland at the Beartrap Creek Bridge in the Ashland County town of Sanborn.
Overview
Built in 1976, the bridge is in need of maintenance. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing:
- Removing the asphaltic overlay and placing a new concrete overlay
- Making concrete surface repairs to the bridge railing and other spot locations
- Replacing missing riprap below the structure
- Replacing guardrail
- All work will occur inside the existing right of way.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled in 2028.
- The project is anticipated to take two to three months to construct.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, US 2 will remain open to one lane of traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals at the bridge.
- Project staff will evaluate the possible closure of Beartrap Road within the work zone.
- Local and emergency access will be maintained.
