US 2, Bad River Study

Location

The study area is north and south of US 2 on the Bad River Reservation in the New Odanah area in the Ashland County, town of Sanborn.

Overview

The area being examined is prone to flooding. The study will investigate alternatives to make US 2 more resilient to flooding.

  • A detailed report will be developed for all alternatives studied.
  • Results of the report may be used to support future grant applications for design or construction activities going forward.
  • Currently, there are no subsequent planning studies or construction projects planned in this area.
  • This study is funded by PROTECT grant funding.
  • Because of the location, the Bad River Tribe will be involved in the study.

Status

Kapur & Associates, Inc. of Milwaukee has been hired to provide consulting staff for the project, which is in the data collection phase.

Schedule

The study began in summer 2025, and it's expected to conclude in December 2026.
