Location
The Hall Estate Road/160th Street Bridge over I-94 is in the Dunn County town of Lucas between interchange exit 41 (WIS 25, Menomonie/Barron) and interchange exit 32 (County Q, Knapp).
Overview
Built in 1958, the bridge is reaching the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:
- Replace the bridge
- The new structure will be raised to improve vertical clearance for I-94 traffic and lengthened to accommodate a future six-lane interstate.
- Replace the roadway approaches on either side of the bridge
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2027, but work could occur as early as 2026 if funding becomes available.
Traffic Impacts
During construction:
- Hall Estate Road/160th Street will be closed to through traffic.
- Two lanes of traffic for east- and westbound I-94 will be maintained during construction. However, I-94 might be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction during off-peak times to complete the needed work.
- Nighttime full closures of I- 94 will be required for removal of existing girders and setting of new ones.
- During full closures of I-94 or periods of extreme congestion, I-94 traffic will be directed to use the existing alternate route of US 12 between the I-94 interchanges at WIS 128 southwest of the St. Croix County village of Wilson and WIS 25 in Menomonie.
