WIS 186, WIS 73 to US 10, Wood County

Location

WIS 186, WIS 73 to US 10, Wood County

Project Overview

The purpose of the project is to address the pavement condition along WIS 186 from US 10 to WIS 73. Along the rural sections of WIS 186, drainage structures, safety improvements and guardrail systems will be addressed.

Along the urban portion of WIS 186, through the village of Vesper, drainage structures will be improved, upgrades to curb ramps to comply with current ADA requirements, sidewalk will be added to both the north and south sides of WIS 186 between Robert Street and Wisconsin Street, upgraded guardrail system at the Hemlock Creek bridge, and spot replace curb and gutter as needed. The roadway will also be narrowed by 4 feet on either side between 3rd Street and Cameron Avenue where the former parking lane pavement is not warranted. This would include new curb and gutter and in-kind storm sewer replacements.

This alternative would require right-of-way acquisition for curb ramp replacements and the roadway narrowing that could include fee and temporary limited easements. Unavoidable wetland impacts are also anticipated for the culvert and guardrail replacements.

Traffic Impacts

The project is anticipated to be constructed under a detour for through traffic. Access for local traffic and emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times during construction. The detour route will utilize WIS 73 to WIS 80 to US 10.

Real Estate

The project has fee and temporary easements anticipated for curb ramp upgrades, grading at guardrail and pipe replacement locations.
