The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a public involvement meeting to share details about improvements proposed for US 63 around Beaver Dam Lake in the Barron County city of Cumberland.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about the proposed improvements, review maps and other information and ask questions of project staff.
-
When: 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30
- A presentation is planned for 5 p.m.
-
Where: Cumberland City Hall, 950 1st Ave.
The pavement on US 63 is showing signs of deterioration, and the city wants to increase the navigational clearance under the structure separating the west and east portions of Beaver Dam Lake. Proposed works includes:
- Removing the box culvert under US 63 and the Lake Street Bridge.
- Replacing both structures with a single bridge on US 63.
- Dredging Beaver Dam Lake under US 63 and Lake Street.
- Replacing curb, gutter, sidewalk, asphalt approach pavement and pavement markings.
- Reconstructing portions of Lake Street, Nedvidek Street and Babcock Avenue to match the raised profile of US 63.
During construction, US 63 will be closed, and through traffic will be detoured via WIS 48, US 53 and WIS 70. The existing Lake Street Bridge will be used by emergency vehicles during a portion of construction, and access to the boat landing will be maintained at all times.
Hard-of-hearing, deaf, deaf-blind or those with a speech disability needing accommodations should contact the Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay Service via 711 at least three days before the meeting.
