The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a public involvement meeting to share details about an upcoming pavement replacement project on WIS 13 between Washington and Superior avenues in the Bayfield County city of Washburn.
-
When: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 8
- A brief presentation is planned at 5 p.m.
-
Where: The Club, 3 W. Bayfield St., Washburn
The existing pavement on this segment of WIS 13 is nearing the end of its service life. To address that and other issues, WisDOT is proposing:
- Reconstructing WIS 13 from 2nd Avenue West to Superior Avenue with concrete pavement
- Replacing curb, gutter, sidewalk and storm sewer
- Replacing or upgrading all sidewalk curb ramps
In a separate project completed at the same time, the city plans to replace sanitary sewer, streetlights and water main.
During construction, WIS 13 will be closed to traffic. Lightweight vehicles will be detoured via Washington Avenue and Maki Road, and heavy truck traffic will be detoured via County C (8th Avenue West) to WIS 13.
Construction is scheduled for 2027, with work beginning in spring and concluding in fall.
WisDOT is seeking public input on the proposed project through November 1. More information and a comment form can be found on the project website.
