Bayfield Apple Fest goers could experience delays

Detour from reconstruction project on WIS 13 in Washburn could result in backups; motorists traveling from the west are encouraged to get to Bayfield through Port Wing

Release date: September 16, 2024

Motorists planning to attend the annual Bayfield Apple Festival in October should expect delays if passing through the city of Washburn, where WIS 13 is being reconstructed, to get to the Bayfield County city of Bayfield.

WIS 13 is being reconstructed from Thompson Creek to 2nd Avenue West in Washburn, and one lane of traffic in each direction is being detoured on the south side of the city via West Bigelow Street, West Holman Lakeview Drive, Omaha Street East and 1st Avenue West.

The detour is expected to result in backups, so motorists coming from the west are encouraged to take WIS 13 through Port Wing and Cornucopia to get to Bayfield.

Construction is scheduled for completion in early December.
