Governor Evers approves WIS 164 resurfacing project in Waukesha County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a $9.1 million resurfacing and improvement project along WIS 164, from Swan Road in Pewaukee to County VV (Main Street) in the village of Sussex. Payne & Dolan is the prime contractor for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 10.

Improvements include:

  • Resurface WIS 164 within project limits
  • Update curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards
  • Replace signals at Swan Road, Lisbon Road, and County VV (Main Street)
Traffic Impacts:

WIS 164 will remain open to one lane of traffic in both directions. Motorists can expect short-term closures at intersections and side roads for resurfacing work.

Local access will be maintained to businesses and residences.

Schedule:

This project will be completed in two (2) stages:

  • Stage 1: Swan Road to County K (Lisbon Road).
    • This work is scheduled for completion in fall 2026.
  • Stage 2: County K (Lisbon Road) to County VV (Main Street)
    • This work will begin in spring 2027 and be completed by fall 2027
