Release date: July 28, 2026

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $1.66 million contract with prime contractor Pheifer Brothers Construction Co., Inc., of Neenah for an improvement project on WIS 27 at Sandy Run Creek south of US 2 in the Douglas County town of Brule. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, Aug. 3.

Built in 1968, the culvert has reached the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project is:

  • Removing the existing culvert
  • Replacing it with a single-span concrete girder bridge
  • Replacing approach pavement and guardrail
  • Placing new pavement markings

Starting Monday, Aug. 10, WIS 27 will be closed at the construction site for the duration of the project, and through traffic will be detoured via County A and County N.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late October.
