Governor Evers approves noise barrier project along I-894 in Milwaukee County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers has approved a $10.59 million noise barrier project along I-894 in Milwaukee County. Zenith Tech, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. Work is scheduled to begin July 14. Funds for this project were included in the 2023-2025 state budget.

Improvements Include:

This project will construct three (3) new noise barriers along the south side of I-894 in Milwaukee County. New noise barrier locations:

  • Between 76th Street and 68th Street
  • Between 68th Street and 60th Street
  • Between 51st Street and Loomis Road (WIS 36)

Traffic Impacts:

  • Long-term closures of various ramps along I-894 near locations of new noise barriers. Ramp closures will be staggered.
  • Long-term outside shoulder closures along I-894.
  • Overnight lane and ramp closures.

Schedule:

This project is scheduled for completion by summer 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
