Closure east of County E necessary to construct safety improvement project
Release date: July 3, 2025
Starting Monday, July 7, a segment of US 10 between Prescott and Ellsworth in Pierce County will be closed to traffic as part of a safety improvement project east of the County E intersection south of River Falls.
The intersection has a high crash rate. To address that, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is planning to:
- Reconstruct approximately 1,000 feet of US 10 east of the County E intersection to lower the state highway's vertical curve by about five feet to increase motorists’ sight distance
- Replace culvert pipe
- Place new pavement markings
During construction, local traffic will be detoured via County E and 530th Avenue, and trucks weighing more than 20 tons will be detoured via WIS 35 and WIS 65.
Construction began June 30, and the project is scheduled for completion in late August.
