Governor approves US 63 resurfacing project in Pierce County

Work includes completing culvert maintenance, adjusting guardrail

Release date: June 26, 2025

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $7.1 million contract with prime contractor Monarch Paving Co. of Amery for a resurfacing project on US 63 from the northwest end of the Eisenhower Bridge of Valor to US 10 west of Ellsworth in Pierce County. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, June 30.

The pavement on this segment of US 63 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to:

  • Remove 3.75 inches of asphalt and place 3.75 inches of new asphalt
  • Add rumble strips
  • Adjust guardrail
  • Complete culvert maintenance
  • Install permanent pavement markings

During construction, US 63 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late September.
