Release date: May 22, 2026
To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers recently signed a $3.4 million contract to install roundabouts at the US 18 intersections with Wisconsin Street and Iowa Street in Prairie du Chien, Crawford County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin May 26.
Gerke Excavating Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. The project is designed to improve safety at two intersections along US 18 in Prairie du Chien. The Wisconsin Street and Iowa Street intersections will be reconstructed into roundabouts.
Construction will take place under staged closures of the intersections.
Major construction operations are scheduled for completion late November 2026. Minor finishing work may occur in 2027. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
