WisDOT seeking public input on US 53 bridge rehab project

Project includes replacing deck, parapet, reconstructing roadway, installing guardrail

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public comment on a proposed project rehabilitating the bridge that carries US 53 over a branch of the north fork of Beaver Creek in the Trempealeau County village of Ettrick. 

The public is encouraged to visit the project website, review project details and use the comment form to share their input. Comments are being accepted through June 6 by:

Built in 1989, the bridge needs maintenance. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing the following:

  • Replacing the concrete bridge deck
  • Replacing the concrete parapet
  • Reconstructing approximately 600 feet of asphalt on both sides of the structure
  • Installing guardrail on all quadrants of the roadway approaches

During construction, US 53 will remain open to a single lane of traffic at the bridge controlled by temporary traffic signals.
