Governor Evers approves WIS 80 improvements, Iowa County

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers recently signed a $3,123,751 contract to resurface WIS 80 between County I in Highland and WIS 133 in Avoca, Iowa County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin May 26. A public meeting is being held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Town of Highland Town Hall, 844 Main Street, Highland to discuss construction schedule and traffic impacts.

Iverson Construction is the prime contractor for the project. The project is designed to address 8.8 miles of pavement along WIS 80. Improvements include resurfacing the pavement, replacement of WIS 80 bridge over Morrey Creek, installation of centerline rumble strips between County I and County P, installation of shoulder rumble strips between County P and Old State Road 80 and a high friction surface treatment on the curve near Aide Road intersection.

During construction, WIS 80 will remain open to traffic between County I and County P under flagging operations. WIS 80 will be closed to through traffic and detoured between County P and WIS 133 for bridge replacement and paving operations.

Project completion is scheduled for July 2026. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
