Beginning the week of May 4, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will resume work on the I-43 resurfacing and improvement project between Bender Road and the Oak Leaf Trail in Milwaukee County.
Work to be completed:
- Noise wall replacement
- Retaining wall repairs
- Resurface I-43 southbound outside lane and shoulder between Bender Road and Silver Spring Drive
- New pavement markings
Traffic impacts:
- Southbound I-43 between Good Hope Road and Silver Spring Drive will be reduced from three lanes to two lanes.
- Northbound Jean Nicolet Road, between Montclaire Avenue and Bender Road, is scheduled to close through fall 2026.
- Local access will be maintained.
Schedule:
Construction on this project began in mid-2025 and is scheduled for completion in fall 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
