Release date: April 21, 2026
To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers recently signed a $10 million contract to resurface WIS 131 between WIS 82 in La Farge and WIS 33 in Ontario, Vernon County. Preliminary work is scheduled to begin April 22.
Mathy is the prime contractor for the project. The project is designed to improve this 12-mile section of WIS 131 from La Farge to Ontario by resurfacing the existing asphalt pavement. Other improvements include updating guardrail, concrete overlay on two bridges, curb ramp installation at the WIS 133 and WIS 33 intersections and culvert repairs.
During construction, WIS 131 will be closed and detoured utilizing WIS 82, WIS 56, US 14, WIS 27 and WIS 33.
Project completion is scheduled for November 2026. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
