Governor Evers approves US 10 resurfacing project

Work includes widening shoulders, adding rumble strips, completing culvert work

Release date: April 11, 2025

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed an $8.6 million contract with prime contractor Monarch Paving Co. of Amery for a resurfacing project on US 10 from Hunt Lane west of Eleva to Nelson Road in Osseo, all in Trempealeau County. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, April 21; that start is weather dependent.

The pavement on this segment of US 10 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is planning to:

  • Remove 2.75 inches of the existing pavement in rural areas and 3.75 inches of the existing pavement in urban areas and place 3.75 inches of new asphalt pavement along the entire length of the project
  • Widen paved shoulders
  • Add centerline and shoulder rumble strips
  • Adjust or replace guardrail
  • Clean, repair or replace culverts
  • Clean ditches
  • Upgrade sidewalk curb ramps to meet Americans With Disabilities Act standards and complete curb and gutter work where necessary

During construction, US 10 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter daytime lane closures for most of the work. During non-working hours, US 10 will be open to two lanes of traffic in the work zone.

Construction is scheduled for completion in early July.
