Work to be done on seven bridges on I-94 corridor in three counties

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking public input on a proposed maintenance project involving structures along the I-94 corridor, which recently had two bridges in Jackson County added to it.

The following seven structures need preventive maintenance to extend the life of each.
- Jackson County: I-94 east- and westbound bridges over the south fork of the Buffalo River southeast of Osseo
- St. Croix County: County J bridge over I-94 southeast of Roberts
- Trempealeau County: East- and westbound I-94 bridges over County NN/Buffalo River State Trail and east- and westbound I-94 bridges over the north fork of the Buffalo River, all north of Osseo
The following work is planned:
- Jackson County bridges:
- Clean and make repairs on existing concrete bridge decks
- Add a high-friction surface treatme nt on bridge decks
- St. Croix and Trempealeau County bridges:
- Clean and make repairs on the existing concrete bridge decks
- Place a thin polymer overlay over the decks
During work, I-94 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter:
Lane closures controlled by flagging on County J.
Single-lane closures during off-peak travel times on I-94.
A reduction in speed from 70 mph to 55 mph on the interstate in work zones.
Construction currently is scheduled for 2028.
Motorists are reminded that using handheld cell phones in Wisconsin work zones is illegal. Alerts and updates provided via these sites are not intended for use while driving. When driving, your focus should always be on driving.
