Project consists of painting eight structures in six west-central Wisconsin counties

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $1.56 million contract with prime contractor Omega Coatings and Construction of Madison for a project painting portions of the eight bridges in six counties, including abutments, bearing plates, bearings, girders, piers and splice plates to extend the life of the structures.
Painting is scheduled to start Monday, April 7, with structures painted in the following order.
- Dunn County:
- US 12/WIS 25: Northbound bridge over the Red Cedar River in city of Menomonie
- US 12: Bridge over Annis Creek northwest of the city of Menomonie
- Pierce County:
- WIS 29: Bridge over the Rush River west of Spring Valley
- Chippewa County:
- WIS 29: County X bridge over WIS 29 southwest of Cadott.
- Clark County:
- WIS 73: Bridge over Cawley Creek north of Neillsville
- Trempealeau County:
- US 53: Bridge over the south fork of the Buffalo River in Osseo
- WIS 95: Bridge over the Trempealeau River in Blair
- Buffalo County
- WIS 37: Bridge over Peeso Creek northeast of Mondovi
During painting, motorists will encounter single-lane and shoulder closures. Pedestrians also will be detoured at the following two projects:
- Dunn County: US 12/WIS 25, northbound Red Cedar Bridge, city of Menomonie.
- For the northern crossing, the detour will utilize the intersection of Wolske Bay Road/Meadow Road and US 12 West/WIS 25 North.
- For the southern crossing, the detour will utilize the pedestrian overpass at 2nd Avenue West (extended). The east sidewalk will be the closed section.
- Trempealeau County: US 53, South Fork Buffalo River Bridge, Osseo.
- For the northern crossing, the detour will utilize the intersection of 7th Street and US 53/Harmony Street.
Painting is scheduled for completion in early June.
Motorists are reminded that using handheld cell phones in Wisconsin work zones is illegal. Alerts and updates provided via these sites are not intended for use while driving. When driving, your focus should always be on driving.
