US 45, New London to Clintonville, Outagamie and Waupaca Counties

Location

US 45, New London to Clintonville, Outagamie and Waupaca Counties

Overview

The asphalt pavement on this section of US 45 and ramps on and off WIS 54 are showing signs of deterioration. If not improved, accelerated deterioration of the highway will occur and maintenance costs will continue to rise.

There are 16 culvert pipes that are deteriorated and in need of improvement. The culvert pipes need to be cleaned and repairs are required for the inlets. The culvert pipes are at or near the end of their useful service life. A Park and Ride parking lot is in need of resurfacing to maximize the life of the pavement structure.

The project will be a full pavement depth removal, with paving 7-7.5 inches of new asphalt, keeping the current 12-foot lanes, 3-foot paved shoulders, and 7-foot gravel shoulders. Additional work will include the cleaning and repair of inlets on the 16 culvert pipes, spot curb and gutter repairs, guardrail replacement, centerline rumble strips, restriping and pavement markings on the new asphalt pavement. The park and ride at WIS 15 will be milled and overlaid.

The project is anticipated to be constructed with the WIS 54, New London-Black Creek, West Jeanne Street to County S project.

Traffic Impacts

The project will be constructed utilizing a signed detour following WIS 96 and WIS 76.
