Project location

Business 51 (Post Rd.), County B to Minnesota Ave., in villages of Plover and Whiting, in Portage County.

Project overview

Reconstruction to include:

Wider travel lanes
Dedicated turn lanes
Bike lanes in both directions
Adding and widening sidewalks on both sides of the roadway
Two lanes in each direction with raised center median

Business 51 is an important transportation corridor with a significant number of commercial establishments.

Project cost estimated at $36.5 million (including real estate).

Status/phase

Design work - Green Dr. to Bea Jay Ln. with construction scheduled in 2016.

Remaining segments are currently not scheduled for construction.

Improvements to the Business 51/Minnesota Ave. intersection completed fall 2011.
