US 10/WIS 441, Coldspring Rd. to one-half mile east of Oneida St., in the Appleton area, in Calumet, Outagamie, and Winnebago counties.

Project overview

WisDOT is developing plans to reconstruct and expand approximately six miles of the heavily traveled US 10/WIS 441 Tri-County freeway from four to six lanes.

Project is needed to address safety concerns and traffic demands on one of the region's vital transportation routes. Currently, the crash rates on US 10/WIS 441 exceed statewide averages for similar urban freeways.

Additional lanes of traffic are needed on US 10/WIS 441 to handle expected traffic increases safely in the years ahead. Most of the existing interchanges also need improvements.

This project is being conducted under the Major Highway Development Subprogram.

Status/phase

Preliminary design work, including adding another bridge over Little Lake Butte des
Morts, with no construction activity.

Schedule has not been developed yet, but construction most likely not to start before 2016.
