Title VI (Nondiscrimination)

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other related nondiscrimination statutes. Title VI and other related nondiscrimination statutes prohibit unfair and inequitable treatment of any person based on race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

Title VI Implementation Plan

FHWA reporting guidelines require the annual submission of a Title VI Implementation Plan that is monitored and updated annually to reflect WisDOT’s program and practices. This plan is intended to be a living document that demonstrates WisDOT’s commitment to deliver programming that ensures all individuals have an opportunity to participate in and receive the benefits of WisDOT’s programs and activities.

Title VI Goals & Accomplishments Report

FHWA reporting guidelines require the annual submission of a Title VI Goals and Accomplishments Report that is monitored and updated annually to reflect WisDOT’s program and practices. The report documents WisDOT’s progress toward compliance with Title VI in its programs and activities.

Title VI Language Access Plan and Interactive Map

The Language Access Plan describes WisDOT’s policies and procedures for communicating with people with limited English proficiency (LEP). The plan provides a framework for timely and effective language assistance with LEP individuals and satisfies the requirements set forth by Executive Order 13166 “Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency.”

The Commonly Spoken Foreign Languages in Wisconsin interactive map estimates the percentage of the population in each Wisconsin county that speaks a foreign language. Procedures for using the map can be found in the Language Access Plan.
